Gun Runner wins the Pegasus World Cup

Gun Runner shall be remembered as one of the greatest horses of all time. The horse just ended his legendary career with one of the most memorable victories at the Gulfstream Park. The Pegasus World Cup is the richest race in the world of horse racing and Gun Runner finally claimed the crown after failing last year. The 5 year old horse was also crowned the Horse of the Year and two nights later he proved himself worthy of the title. Gun Runner took home the $16 million Pegasus World Cup and finished on a five race unbeaten streak. Starting the race at the 10th spot on the 12 horse race, jockey Florent Geroux tactfully put Gun Runner behind Collected at the start. From there on Gun Runner kept a steady peace looking for an opportunity to break loose. With just three furlongs left, Gun Runner picked up his stride and stretched into the lead. Gun Runner outpaced West Coast who came in the second position and Gunnevera clocked the third place in the race. Gun Runner completed the 1 1/8 miles Gulfstream Park course in a time of 1:47.41. In a 19 course racing career Gun Runner won 12 of the starts while coming second three times. The renowned horse will retire with a career total of almost $16 million.

Calculator with an impressive win in Clocker’s Corner

Calculator dominated at the Santa Anita with a very impressive performance. The 6 year old horse won the $75,000 Clocker’s Corner Stakes at an astounding time of 1:12.08. The Florida bred horse is trained by Peter Miller with Flavien Prat serving as its jockey. Starting out from the second position, the Richard C. Pell owned Calculator gained an early lead outstepping Jimmy Bouncer. From there on out, Calculator was unstoppable and were hardly challenges as he cruised to a fine victory at the Santa Anita hillside course. Flavien Prat, who rode Calculator for the first time was very impressed with the horse’s performance on the break through. The horse was familiar with the turf having won the Grade 3 Sham Stakes three years ago. Pell was quite content with the performance though his plan of following Fly to Mars and then breaking out was not executed. With this win , calculator takes his earnings to $642,560.

Tiger Moth wins the Houston Ladies Classic

Florent Geroux continued his winning form at the Houston Ladies Classic. After just having won the Pegasus World Cup with Gun Runner, the Jockey dished out another win this time with Tiger Moth. Geroux closed out the week on a high note with a victory in the $400,000 Grade 3 Houston Ladies Classic.
